Santa Rosa County Jail Roster

The Santa Rosa County Jail roster in Florida is a public resource that allows anyone to check who is currently in custody at the county jail. SantaRosaCourt.us provides access to public information about current and recently released inmates. Additionally, data can be obtained through the official website of the Santa Rosa County Sheriff, by phone, or in person at the jail's reception. The roster allows you to find out the status of a person's detention, the charges filed, and the booking date. The Jail View system is maintained by the Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office; data is regularly updated and posted on the sheriff's website.

Search Current Inmates in Santa Rosa Jail

There are several ways to find information about an inmate currently in custody.

Online Search

  1. Go to SantaRosaCourt.us to search publicly available court records related to inmates.
  2. Visit the Santa Rosa Jail View system on the sheriff's website — this is the primary tool for viewing the current roster. The system shows a list of individuals in custody, with the ability to view details of each record.
  3. To search, you will need the person's full legal name (last name and first name) or booking number, if known.
  4. If the system lacks a search field, use the browser's Ctrl+F (Cmd+F on Mac) function to find the last name in the list.

Juvenile offenders are not displayed in the public roster.

By Phone

Find Santa Rosa Jail Booking Records Online

A booking record is created at the moment when a detained person is officially processed into the jail. It is the first document that records the fact of being in custody.

During booking, the following information is generated:

  • Unique booking number
  • Date and time of processing
  • List of charges filed
  • Arresting agency (sheriff, city police, etc.)
  • Basic identification data of the detainee — name, date of birth, photo

These records become part of the roster and are generally available through the Jail View system on the sheriff's office website. If you need an official document or a copy of a record, submit a public records request. According to Chapter 119 of the Florida Statutes, records created by a government agency in the course of official duties are generally public. Requests can be submitted through the Santa Rosa County public records portal — by phone, mail, or email.

For court cases related to the arrest, contact the Clerk of Court — Jason D. English's office maintains court proceedings records and can provide documents for a specific case.

Search the Santa Rosa Jail Roster by Last Name or Booking Number

The roster supports two main search methods.

By Last Name

Enter the last name in Latin script. Adding the first name narrows the results, which is useful for common last names. A few tips:

  • Check the spelling — even one incorrect letter can yield no results.
  • Try spelling variations if the last name has alternative forms (e.g., with or without a hyphen).
  • Some systems allow partial searches — enter only the first few letters of the last name.

By Booking Number

If you have the booking number, this is the quickest way. The booking number is unique for each detention case, so the result will be accurate.

If the Search Yields No Results

The absence of a name in the roster does not always mean the person is not detained. Possible reasons:

  1. The booking process is not yet complete — there may be a delay of several hours between physical arrest and the appearance of a record in the system.
  2. The person has already been released on bail or by court decision.
  3. The name is entered differently than you expect (nickname, maiden name).

In such cases, call the jail at (850) 983-1171 to confirm the status directly.

Jail Roster Updates and Search Limitations in Santa Rosa

The Jail View roster is updated throughout the business day, but it does not happen instantly. There is usually a time gap between the moment of arrest, the completion of booking, and the appearance of the record in the online system — from several minutes to several hours, depending on the jail's workload.

Main limitations to consider:

LimitationsExplanation
Delay after arrestThe record appears only after the booking procedure is completed, not at the moment of arrest
Disappearance after releaseWhen an inmate is released, their record disappears from the current roster — it is not an archive
Only current custodyJail View shows those currently in custody; past bookings are not stored here
Data entry errorsSometimes names or charges may be entered incorrectly or updated later

The roster is not an archive. If you need information about past arrests or released individuals, submit an official public records request to the sheriff's office. For individuals transferred to the state correctional system, use the Florida Department of Corrections search.

The county is part of the First Judicial Circuit of Florida, which serves four counties. Court cases arising after arrest are heard in the Milton District Court.
